Clinical Trial for Adults Living with Depression
Protocol: STUDY00008361
Full Title
A Two-Part Multicenter, Double-Blind, Randomized Placebo-Controlled Study to Evaluate Efficacy and Safety and the Maintenance of Effect of 20-mg Seltorexant as Adjunctive Therapy to Antidepressants in Adult and Elderly Patients with Major Depressive Disorder with Insomnia Symptoms
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Psychiatry is conducting a clinical trial for adults living with depression that are taking antidepressant medication. The goal of the study is to see if the study drug (seltroexant) taken in combination with antidepressant treatment will help to improve depression symptoms and sleep problems.

This study has two phases. Phase 1 will take 3 months and will consist of: a screening phase; a 6-week treatment phase where you will be randomly assigned (which happens by chance) to receive either the study drug or a placebo (which looks like the study drug but does not contain active medication); and (3) a 2-week follow-up phase. There will be at least 4 in-person study visits and 2 visits that will take place over the phone.

Phase 2 is optional and will vary from participant to participant. It will consist of taking the study drug and in-person study visits every 2-4 weeks.

For both phases, participants will be asked to take the study drug/placebo once a day with a glass of water at bedtime. They will continue to take their antidepressant medication prescribed by their doctor.

Participants will earn $100 for completing each study
