Understanding Nurses’ Views on Trauma-Informed Care and Restraint Use in the ICU
Protocol: STUDY00010104
Full Title
Trauma-Informed Care and Physical Restraint Use in the Medical Intensive Care Unit: Exploring Nurse Knowledge, Attitudes, and Barriers
Description
We want to learn how MICU nurses think and feel about trauma-informed care and using physical restraints.
Trauma-informed care means understanding how past trauma can affect patients and providing care that feels safe and respectful. Sometimes, restraints are used to keep patients safe, but they can also cause stress. This study will help us understand nurse’s knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of trauma-informed care and use of restraints in the ICU.
If you join, you will complete two short surveys online. These surveys ask about your knowledge, attitudes, and experiences with trauma-informed care and restraints. Your answers will help us find ways to include more trauma-informed care in MICUs.
