Smartphone App Study for People Living with MS
Protocol: STUDY00009865
Full Title
Prepare the mind: Can coaching in goal-directed behaviour increase the success of cognitive rehabilitation in people with MS?
Description
A research team from UBMD Neurology has developed a new smartphone app to help people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) in their daily lives. The “Conscientious app” focuses on helping people achieve their goals in a more conscientious way. This means more focus on setting goals and following through on them in an organized way.

This study will involve 3 lab visits over an 18-week period. Visit 1 includes memory/thinking tests, surveys, and learning how to use the app. During this visit, participants will be randomly assigned (which happens by chance, like flipping a coin) to use either the app or a similar intervention for 12 weeks. After these 12 weeks, Visit 2 will include the same testing/surveys as Visit 1. Participants will also learn how to use BrainHQ. BrainHQ includes video games designed to improve thinking abilities. They will then use BrainHQ two times per week (60 minutes each) for 6 weeks. Then they will complete Visit 3 for the same testing/surveys as Visit 1. They will also share feedback about their experiences throughout the study.

Participants will be paid $25.
