Glaucoma Video Education Trial
Protocol: STUDY00009783
Full Title
A Randomized Study Comparing Video-Based Versus Verbal Glaucoma Education
Description
Glaucoma is a group of diseases that affect the eyes. It can damage parts of the eye and can lead to blindness. Unfortunately, there are often no symptoms in the early stages. Annual eye exams can help doctors to detect it early. This can allow for treatment. However, patients sometimes have difficulty following their treatment plans.

A research team from the University at Buffalo is interested in developing a way to make it easier for patients to follow their treatment plan for glaucoma. Participants will be in the study for up to 4 weeks. During an initial visit, they will be randomly assigned (which happens by chance, like flipping a coin) to one of two groups:

-Group 1 will watch an educational video about treatment for glaucoma
-Group 2 will receive treatment instructions from their doctor

All participants will complete a follow-up phone call after 1 – 4 weeks.
