ALLIANCE AVIV Safety and Effectiveness of Balloon-Expandable Bioprosthetic SAPIEN X4 Transcatheter Heart Valve in Failing Aortic Bioprosthetic Valves
Description
Adults living with failing heart valves are at an increased risk for heart failure. In order to treat failing heart valves, many patients require open heart surgery. Researchers are interested in developing a new way to fix failing heart valves that is less invasive than open heart surgery.

A study team from the University at Buffalo is recruiting patients with failing heart valves for the ALLIANCE trial. The goal of this 10-year study is to see if a new study device can help to fix failing heart valves.

All participants will have a study device implanted through an artery in their groin. Following the procedure, participants will have check-ups with their doctor at 30 days, 6 months, 1 year, and yearly for 10 years. Visits at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 years may be done over the phone or at the study doctor’s office. They will have physical exams, blood work, surveys, walking tests, and imaging tests.

Participants will be paid $50 for each in-person study visit.

Eligibility
Adults 18 years or older
Have a bioprosthetic aortic valve that is failing and needs to be replaced
You fall in the high or greater risk category for open heart surgery
