Simulated Diving Study for Healthy Adults
Protocol: STUDY00008212
Full Title
Effect of hydration status on cognitive function in diving
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is conducting an in-person simulated diving study for healthy adults. The goal of the study is to learn more about how people respond to stressors during diving that can result in dehydration. The results from the study may be used to improve the health and safety of military divers on missions.

Participants will complete 5 study visits (totaling about 12 hours) on the UB South Campus (at Main Street and Bailey Avenue). They will perform tests involving thinking and memory before, during, and after a simulated dive in a pressure chamber. Participants will either be hydrated or dehydrated during their study visits.

Participants will receive $250 for completing all study requirements.
