Heart Health and Activity Study for Older Adults

Objective Physical Activity and Cardiovascular Health (OPACH) in Older Women: OPACH2
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Public Health and Health Professions is looking for older adults aged 70 to 90 years old for the OPACH2 Calibration Study. The goal of the study is to evaluate exercise intensity and heart rate differences using activity/heart rate monitors in older adults.

Participants will complete an in-person study visit on the UB South Campus (at Main Street and Bailey Avenue). During the visit, they will have their height, weight, hip, waist, and blood pressure measured. They will also complete a 2.5-minute walk test and a 400-meter walk test. Following the study visit, they will be asked to wear an activity monitor and heart rate monitor for 1 week and perform daily 2.5-minute walks at home.

Participants will receive $65 for completing the study.

Eligibility
-Older adults aged 70 to 90 years old
-Willing to abstain from alcohol 72 hours before testing
-Willing to abstain from caffeine and nicotine on the day of testing
-Able to walk independently
-Able to do some walking tests while wearing sensors
-Fluent in English
